Every year, we fund around 10 to 15 exemplary cultural education projects with older people from the “Fonds Kulturelle Bildung im Alter” (Cultural Education in Old Age Fund), with a total funding volume of around 100,000 euros.
In the funding year 2023, the focus is on projects with older people away from urban centres. Compared to urban areas, the range of cultural education for older people in rural areas is often less diverse. However, participatory cultural formats in rural areas, with their special resources such as space and commitment, can lead to new opportunities for encounters and creativity and enrich a region in the long term. A jury of experts selected twelve projects for funding from 57 applications submitted by cultural practitioners, cultural institutions and institutions for social work with the elderly from North Rhine-Westphalia.
